About Heart Trace

Draw a heart in one unbroken stroke and find out how close you really got. Heart Trace scores every attempt from 0 to 100%, so “that looked about right” finally gets a number.

Lift your finger and the attempt ends — that is the whole challenge. Getting a clean heart in a single motion is much harder than it looks, and the score is unforgiving enough to keep you retrying. It runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a desktop, with nothing to download and no sign-up.

How to play

Press down anywhere on the canvas and trace the outline in one continuous stroke, finishing back where you began. Release to score. Tap Retry to have another go at the same shape, or Next to move on. Open the score breakdown to see exactly where the points came from.

The ten hearts

Each level changes the target outline, so a stroke that scored well on one will not carry over to the next: Classic, Tall, Wide, Tilted →, Tilted ←, Pointy, Plump, Bumpy, Spiky and Wavy. The later shapes add corners and ripples that punish a rushed curve.

Tips for a higher score

Go slower than feels natural — speed is where most of the accuracy is lost. Start at the top centre dip rather than at a lobe, since that is the hardest part to correct once you are moving. Keep the two lobes matched; a lopsided heart loses more than a slightly wobbly one. And close the shape properly, as a gap at the finish costs more than a small bulge along the way.

Questions

Is it free? Yes — every level, no download and no account.

Does it work on a phone? Yes. Touch, trackpad and mouse all work, and the canvas resizes to fit the screen you are on.

Can I use a stylus? Yes, and it usually scores better than a fingertip.

Is my best score saved? Yes, in this browser on this device. Clearing site data resets it.

Made for anyone who has ever drawn a wonky heart. ♥
